After graduating from NC State’s School of Design and winning the Paris Prize in Architecture, Abie Harris taught in the NCSU College of Design. 

 

Since retiring as University of Architects Emeritus in 1998, he has intensified his time spent drawing and painting. He paints to experience the tactile sensation of putting lines and color on a surface. “Not knowing where the composition will end and discovering its realization is rewarding.”

 

His show, “Emergent Landscapes”, is at The Blowing Rock Art and History Museum from August 2021 to January 2022. He will also have a painting at Hartwell on South Street soon.
